Final Self Assessments!

For my last post is my FINAL SELF ASSESSMENT!  I've worked hard over the time period that I have been here, I've also been away for sometimes, however the times that I've been here, I've worked my butt off to think more in depth about that days blog post. Also with the commenting on other peoples blogs, I've haven't been good at that, but towards the end I found myself commenting more and more.

For my assignment that I have worked on, I have done them to the best that I can think of. I have done all the blog posts that is on the assignment page on the wiki page, I looked though them and I matched them to the ones that I have on my blog page. From what I can see, I have done them to the best that I can do. In some of them I related to the post and I put some one my personal things. For example in my song blog post that I did, I used the song, One Life from Hedley and I said there that " I hear this song and it reminds me that life is short, and we only have one life, and we should just live it, and have fun" so this for me shows a bit on how I think of the song. The next post that I posted and which I also believe that I did to my best and that I thought about it in depth is the post about Hamlet, in this post I did connect to the character in which I said "I know the feeling of disappointment, and thinking that its not fair and just wanting to die." The whole post that I did for that day was something that I thought in depths and I said that I knew what he meant. From there the one that I like was the tattoo post. For all the assignments that I did, I put in a lot of effort to the post. I think that I did work hard over the semester, the ones that I did struggle with was the post about Hotel Rwanda. I feel that my writing is good, however I do believe that it can improve, and be even better. The quotes that I listed was the posts that I believe was awesome, however there was more. Again the posts that I believe that could of been better was the Hotel Rwanda. For my future goals, I will do even more of my best, I'll keep trying and putting in more effort.

For my comments sections I think that I have done 30-40  comments I know for fact that I  haven't commented on everyone in class and that I could work more on. So I didn't comment on everyones blogs but I did comment for best in what I think is good. From the start I didn't do much commenting however I started to comment more in depth of that posts that others have done, I would read their posts and from there I would think about it and ask questions, I starting doing more to the end. I think that I haven't really answered back, I think only once or twice. I have learned that if we all share in what we know about a topic, we get more information rather then one person just says thing they know. My goals for next year is to get more involved, and share what I know about a topic. So again what I can change is for me to get more involved in the school and also the class.

For Self Regulation, for this class I know that I have missed a lot I have been away 31 time and for June it was 4. I have been away and the school know the reasons why I have been away, and all my teachers also know why, its been a hard year to start with. When I am away I would look at the wiki page and see if Neuf had updated the site and I would also work on the class from home. Also when I was here I would help out some of my friends to understand the post or the work for that way. I have learned that if I push myself to the best that I can, then I can get this done and to the best that I can.

For my Genius Hour project even though it wasn't for marks I think it was good, since I was able to show everyone what I did for it. Some people did comment on it and they seem to like what I did, just for to explaining it was to work on. From the comments I learned that I have to learn to teach something better, and explain it better. I came to school to learn, because its important for me to learn and for my future.

Overall I think that I deserve 65% to 75% between there. I really think I deserve 75% overall, and those are the reasons why I think that, my reasons are listed there.

Genius Hour Project

For my genius hours project I did HTML, overall I feel that I did a good job, I didn't speak, I just answer the question that the class and Neuf had, from there I did a movie, because I don't like speaking in front of people and its better that, so again overall I believe that I did a good job.

The Point of Comm 11

The purpose of this class is to learn. In the start of this semester I thought of this class was going to be about ourself and not do much in the class, however over the time we where here I started to think otherwise. My purpose for being here was to learn about ourself and explore life about ourself and others also about how it connects to other parts of the world, for ex, with Hotel Rwanda. When Neuf, said that we are using blogs and a wiki page, the first thing that came to my mind was confused! I have never had a class in which I could use blogs to do my work on. The reason that Neuf used blogs and wiki spaces, is for reason like, with blogs, we can all read each others and comment so then we can learn from other students and not always going to the teacher for everything, show it teaches us to find the answer out on ourselves. Then wikispaces was a site that he posted all the homework there so we don't miss all of the work. For the learning process, Neuf believes that we can extend the amount of learning, for me I believe that you learn stuff if you want to and if its something that you want to know or that you enjoy the topic. This semester, my peers have helped me by commenting more information, or overall just by telling me what is wrong, or more information about a topic. I have helped others by telling them what is good and what they can inprove on. I believe in what I believe because I want to believe in it. I don't know what you believe in, I can't tell you what to believe in, its what you want to. For me learning is by when I do the work and write it down somewhere, and also learning from a teacher, also by learning by a video, I also learn that's way. How do you know I'm learning? You can tell by when I try hard and when I'm with my music and thinking hard, then I'm mostly learning.

Needs

For me,  i mostly listen to music all the time, that is the main reason why i got headphones. Music for me is what lights up my day. I listen to all type of music, dance, techno, dubstep, spanish music, so I would put this under fun, power, freedom. Listening to music makes me happy and takes my mind from everything that goes on. It also relaxes me. Sending messages to my friends, I always do this, however during school i mostly send messages to my sister, thats what also lights up my day. These things would be more in belonging part, since now a day everyone is texting, so i guess i do text for feeling that I belonging. Listening in school is also another factor, since i want a good education, and get a good job. This part would be under power.  I also like playing games on my ipad, and also playing on my Xbox, not for a very long time, this also falls in the fun part. Also something that i really don't care in a way, and i do in another way is the type of clothing I wear, so this part would go under power, in which I need to have a type of clothing and no other. Also my dog is a huge part of my life, he is always there, I sometimes look crazy talking to him, I take him out for walks, my dog is another thing that makes my day. I would put this under fun again, because I enjoy going out and breathing fresh air. For me the type of clothing that I wear is for the freedom to stand out, not to belong in a group. For me skipping is a freedom of choice, not lack of power, its just a choice, if you want to be in class, or if you just don't care. The skipping class is a negative way to fulfill my needs. Im not sure my behavior that others disapprove of, how I'm getting my needs out of that.

Personal Stories

So when i was starting grade 8, i use to believe everything that everyone would tell me. When i heard something about someone i didn't know, and yet i still listened to them and started to dislike that person. I haven't heard anything said about me. However writing about what i thought, helped me understand more about Hotel Rwanda, when they where told things about the other people and they believe them.

Human Behavior To Hotel Rwanda.

Hotel Rwanda, like Sullivan Heights, has some connections, for example the different types of groups that exists in the school, with dance and and theater for one. There is always something that are different, like they can be friends, however they feel different with the other people, like if you trust them better if they share the same interest as you. Same with Rwanda and the two different types of people, if they where with the same kind then they acted fine, however if they where with the other kind, then they acted different then with the other kind. So again the same with Sullivan, there are different type of groups.

This haiku represent how the tutsis where slaughter, and how it was long time ago, and yet I felt horrible inside, the feeling with watching the movie and not being able to do or say anything,  even though it was a movie, based on real life. Even though all of the Tutsis didn't die, but some of them where killed.

This poem is great, because she showed what the family members in Rwanda was feeling, and how their "life seems to fall apart" and that they lost their family, and horrible things happen. For her it was a dream for them in Rwanda was real.

What caused two tribes of people who lived in peace for hundreds of years to build up hatred for one another?

Well, for starter, Hutus and Tutus have lived with each other for years, so when the Belgian came and started to give the tutus good stuff and made them feel like of they where better, after when the belgians left, the tutus still had their things from the belgians so the Hutus got angry with the Tutus because they betrayed them.

By telling one tribe that they are better than the other, and basing it by the way they look. The Belgian told the Tutsi that they look more like that white people. So over the years the Hutu heard that the Tutsi look more white.
So thats dumb because looking at them, they are both the same. However just because one "looks like white people" they get treated better, so no wonder the Hutu got mad, because like a said they are both the same. 

What reasons do they describe for their dislike? 
Because the Tutsi got treated better. so they started to dislike them. 

How is the hatred spread?
The hatred was spread by radio and massagers. So also media is used

How do they justify the horrible things they do? 
Since the President Habyarimana's plane was shot down, the Hutus started to kill after that.

Report Cards

I've ever been late to class, I've always been on time. However for my absences, I've have due to some family issue. I have been excuse. Overall, I have complete all of my work I believe, the ones that show my understandings are the tattoo, and Hamlets response. I'm always on task in class, I always listen to everyone. For my Genius Hour, its not that great, I've been wanting to start over. My effort for my assignments are for what I believe is to my best ability, I try to put lots of piece of mind in to it. So overall I would give myself a 70%. Those are some of my works, that I have done.

Hamlet

I feel that I can relate to this soliloquy, because I know that feeling of disappointment and thinking that its not fair and just wanting to die. When I was younger I was bullied non stop, and I didn't know if I should tell someone or just keep quiet. That finally stop, then my sister wasn't much help, since she also tormented me and it was all because she was with the wrong people, and that would affect me to. After all of that my mother was discovered have having Lupus and along side my family we have to be there for my mother, due to the fact that she is always in pain. More recently, my grandmother went to the hospital and the doctors have told us that she has very little time to live left. All of that has affected me that, there is time in which I just want to end everything, but I keep going and look to the future, even though life isn't fair. So that's why in some ways I can relate to this soliloquy.

4) For my hypothetical tattoo of a white tiger on my right arm, for me it would represent strong and fearless. This tattoo for me represents my family, my whole family. Everyone is different I know however my sister had times where she got bullied, I also went though time where I got bullied. My dad and how he worked his butt off to have a good life here. My mom and how she work in 3 job just for me and my sister to live and grow up with everything we ever wanted. Now my mother was diagnosed with Lupus, and I have learn to be strong for her. I was taught since I was a kid so to strong and fearless. I grew up with this and learn to be strong and look ahead in the future. I'm getting the tiger  on my right upper arm, because the muscle is there and since for me tiger is strong so it would be great on my arm. So for me I would get a white tiger on my arm to represent strength and fearless.

INTERIM REPORT

Academic Progress

My Academic Progress is good, I'm fine with comprehending written material, am ok with critical thinking skills. My ideas are somewhat clear. I always listen. However I don't volunteers to answer questions and participates in discussions since I don't like that and prefer not to.

Behavior and Attitude

I good with this part, I'm always polite and respect others, and I do take responsible for my own work. 

Work Habits

I remain on task and do my work, I sometimes get the work done on time, I have been away for a large time of class, I've never been late, and I always bring my materials to class. I always use my time wisely, on the days of catch up, I use that to my advantage and catch up on the work that I have missed. 

Overall my interim of what I think that I should get is an "S", and over the course I will improve that.  

Persona

Maximus shows everyone that he is not scared of anything, that he is a good fighter and would kill anybody. However that was his public persona, then his personal persona is different, he shows that he has his soft side, and that was him, a good person. So that shows that he was tough to be strong and not shows his other side.


My public persona would be a full of himself guy, and do whatever i want, get whatever i want guy. Not care about anything. However in my personal persona fact, its somewhat right, i'm always there for people, and nice to everyone, i do get what i want, however with my family, im the one who cares for everyone, helps everyone even with my mom being sick, am the one who there, so my parents see that and gives me things because, i earn them, and I don't stop there, i keep doing everything i can, and i have been told that "i dont care about anybody" however that is something that i show, because i do care i just dont show it. I created this because i hated when people asked me "why am sad" i didnt intent to create it, it just happened.

Poems

Yesterday as a class we talked about the poem: Be the Change You Wish to See. I don't remember much about it, however I do remember about the 3rd lines and how the government doesn't care about us and just uses us as whatever he wants, and like a chess piece and how the first pieces are the ones we don't care about and just send them off to die. That goes the same about the government and how they use us as nothing and doesn't care if we die, we are like expendable to them. So that for me is bad, since its not fair that the government just wants to use us like that. It reminds me that the government shouldn't be using us like if we are nothing, because we are.

This song for me reminds me of the poem, in the chorus, it says: "I'll do what I want 'cause this is my life" this for me reminds me of the poem since the government doesn't care about us, so this song, line, pretty much sums up everything, because its our life we shouldn't be worried about the government.

This is my favorite song from Hedley, One Life. This song for me is awesome. I hear this song and it reminds me that life is short, and we only have one life, and we should just live it and just have fun. So this song just puts a smile on my face and just tells me to move on, not care about what other people think, and just live while am young and again, just live my life to fullest.

My Personality Test

For my test I got The Entertainer, I don't agree with this due to the fact that I hate being the centre of the attention,"outgoing, social, group oriented, dislikes science fiction, does not like to be alone," that is me, it also says that I like actions, and excitement, and I accept and deal with people as they are. Some famous ESFP are Bill Clinton and a fictional person is Homer Simpson. Some of the career that I can take is: Actor, Artist, Musician, Lawyer, Social Worker. 

In 10 Years

Hi I'm Fernando Landaverde, am 26 years old, I live in a decent home in Madrid, Spain. I have a wonderful wife, and one child and another on the way. My three year old boy is named Javier, and I take care of my family with my job as a Computer Programmer, while my wife is a stay at home mom. I took a 2 year program right after High School in BCIT, on how to become a professional  programmer. I got married after graduating college and moved to Spain with my wife and that is when my journey began.
